Hi, I’m Anna — farmer, flower grower, mum of two and the person behind Flock & Flora. 🌿🐑🌸
Around three years ago, my husband and I moved back to our family farm to take over the sheep side of the business and bring up our two young children surrounded by the countryside and the animals we love.
Today, we farm around 250 acres, with a flock of approximately 450 sheep. Life here is rarely quiet! Alongside the sheep, the farm is home to around 50 bullocks and 500 breeding geese, from which we hatch our own goslings.
Then there are the other members of the family — our two dogs, Robin and Sui, and our cats, Mittens and Pepper, who all add their own particular kind of chaos to farm life!
As well as farming, I grow cut flowers, which is where the Flora part of Flock & Flora comes from. I love the contrast between the practical, muddy reality of farming and growing beautiful flowers — although, in reality, both usually involve a fair amount of mud!
Before and alongside farm life, I’ve also worked as a warehouse manager for a fulfilment company, giving me years of experience in the behind-the-scenes world of picking, packing and getting orders safely into customers’ hands. That experience has been incredibly useful in building Flock & Flora and understanding just how important the little details of every order can be.
How Flock & Flora Began
Flock & Flora brings together the things that make up my everyday life: farming, animals, flowers, the countryside and a good sense of humour.
So much of the inspiration for my designs comes directly from life on the farm. Anyone who spends enough time around sheep, geese, cows, dogs and cats will know that animals have personalities all of their own — and they provide plenty of material!
I wanted to turn those moments into cards and gifts that are warm, funny and full of character. Designs that feel at home in the countryside but can make anyone smile.
Flock & Flora is very much a small family business built from real rural life. Behind the cards are muddy boots, fields full of sheep, flowers waiting to be cut, children growing up on the farm, dogs under your feet, cats appearing exactly where they shouldn’t, and probably a goose making far more noise than necessary.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you for visiting Flock & Flora and for supporting our small family business. Every single order helps me continue creating something of my own alongside the farm and our family.
